The strategic location of this place was also appreciated by the Czech ruler Přemysl Otakar II, who founded here sometime before 1261, the royal city as a bulwark of its power. The main landmark is Bartholomew Hill with the Church of St. Bartholomew, which represents an extraordinary work of medieval architecture. Sitting on the green parks is an oasis for the eyes and soul. Energy you can also pick up at the herb garden.

The old parish school with an interactive modern exhibition dedicated to the events of history of the city and famous personalities of Kolín. Almost everyone knows František Kmoch. But you know that Jean Gaspard Deburau, the famous pierot and founder of modern pantomime, came from Cologne, the darling of Paris? The former Jewish quarter, now called Jerusalem on the Elbe, is rightly one of the most valuable monuments of its kind in Bohemia.

Take a walk through the places where cruel history walked. The Kolín synagogue is one of the oldest in Bohemia and the old Jewish cemetery is the only son of the Prague rabbi Jehuda Löw ben Bezalel (the so-called Maharal of Prague) is also buried there.
