The fact that the historic centre of the town together with the St. Barbora and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as I’m sure you already know. But we add in the second breath that you will learn, see and experience much more than you expect when you visit this royal city and you will have to come back several times. One day is not enough for a visit. But where to start?
Visiting the town of Kutná Hora can be conceived in different ways, whether as a lover of history, good food, hiking or cycling. If you’re a romantic soul, you don’t have to limit your trip to the summer months, perhaps the run-up to Christmas is the ideal time for your visit. The direction of travel is clearly given. The first in the row of all the jewels of Kutná Hora is the Church of St. Barbara’s. From there, you can walk through the whole town and stop in Sedlec, where another gem awaits you, this time in the form of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist with an ossuary.
Along the way, you will encounter architecture, history and stories that have been created over the centuries, and you will hear especially those that took place during the period of silver mining in Kutná Hora and its surroundings.
